Walk to School Day

Once again, IB Perrine will be participating with Federal Express and Magic Valley Safe Kids to walk to school on October 9th.  We will meet at 7:30 a.m. at the corner of Sparks and Ridgeway to start walking to Perrine.  Joining us on our walk will be Presley the Panther and Screetch the Canyon Ridge High School Riverhawk.  Come join our walk to school!

Bully Free Awareness Day

October 9 is Bully Free Awareness Day. We are asking all students to wear orange on that day.  We are sending a message to people around our town and school that we strive to be bully free.  Please send your child to school in orange and talk to them about how they can help Perrine be a Bully Free Zone.  Talk to your child about what they need to do if they are being bullied at school.  We teach kids to tell students they are not appreciative of how they are being treated, then to go tell an adult about the problem so an adult can help get the problem resolved.  Let's strive to make our school Bully Free.

Zero the Hero!

Tuesday was the 10th day of school at Perrine, and Zero the Hero came to visit the first graders!

He's not a circle, not a donut, not a letter o, or even a floaty. Zero has a very important job in mathematics. He's not a fruit loop or a bagel. He's Zero the Hero!

Parking

I would like to remind parents that the driveway circles in front of the school and on Sparks Avenue are for drop off only.  Please do not park your cars if you are going to walk your children into the building.  You will need to park in designated spots or in legal parking areas around the school.  Do not forget that the school has a bike path on Sparks Avenue and Caswell Avenue.  YOU CANNOT PARK IN THE BIKE PATH or you may get cited by the TFPD.  I suggest parking behind the building on Robbins Street or a few blocks away from the building. Thank you for your assistance.

East End Landscaping Project

Thank you Parker Ficklin and his Boy Scout troop for the new landscaping project on the east side of the school.  If you know Parker, he is a hard working, dedicated RSMS student who went above and beyond with his project. It is amazing.  The trees and rose bushes are beautiful.  I am confident the future is in good hands with kids like Parker.

Again, thank you Parker.

Excitement is in the Air

Welcome back to another wonderful year at IB Perrine Elementary School.  The staff is starting to return to the building, getting bulletin boards put up, unpacking new text books, and preparing their rooms for eager students to return.  I can tell already that it is going to be an excellent year.

We have three new staff members arriving to Perrine.  Teresa King and Kelly Vriesman join our staff in first grade.  Kelly is a first year teacher, completing her degree in Southern California.  She returns to her hometown to begin her teaching career.  Teresa King transferred to Perrine from Oregon Trail Elementary.  Teresa has taught kindergarten and third grade.  Third grade is excited to have Jacqueline Jensen join their team.  Jacqueline is another Twin Falls High School graduate.  She comes to us from Idaho State University.  Some of you may recognize her as she did her student teaching last semester here at Perrine with Mrs. Hart.

If you recently moved into the Perrine zone, the office is now open daily from 8:30 to 3:30.  Please stop in and register your child.  You will need to bring a birth certificate, proof of residency, and immunization records.  Forms that need to be filled out can be located on our website.

If you did not receive a welcome back letter in the mail, you can access one at our website.  Open house is set for August 29 starting at 5:00.  This is a time for you to see your child's classroom, put supplies in their desks, and introduce yourself to your child's teacher.  School begins on September 3.

We hope to see you on August 29th!

Summer is half gone!

Where has the time gone?  It seems as if we just finished the school year and we were holding our end of the year celebration.  Now all I see on TV are adds for back to school.  Yes, I have been out shopping for my daughter, looking at new pencil boxes, smelling new crayons, and deciding what kind of backpack is needed for the new year.  I felt pretty good as I picked up the majority of the school supplies for under $10.  It was so cheap as we decided to recycle last years backpack and some supplies!  Get the supplies while they are cheap!  Recycle supplies from last year.  Scissors don't go bad after one years use.

If you have forgotten what your child needs, please go to our website (pe.tfsd.org) or our school app (ischoolbox in your app store)and you can find a list of what is requested.  These supplies can be brought to our open house on August 29th.  Please mark your calendars.  Times to be announced later.

I hope you have been spending time at the Twin Falls Public Library.  Some great books I have read this summer include "The Adventures of Nanny Piggins,"  "Girls Who Rock the World," and "The Artsy Smartsy Club."  I would also suggest any of the Ivy and Bean series as well as books by author Daniel Pinkwater.  I found these books at the public library and at the TF Library Bookmobile.  The bookmobile is at Perrine every Thursday from 4:30 to 5:15.  The bookmobile will continue to be at Perrine during the school year.  Check it out!

Enjoy the rest of your summer.  The first day of school is September 3rd at 8:05 a.m.

Summer has arrived

Summer has arrived in Twin Falls.  Hopefully your days are slowing down and you are enjoying the long hot summer.  Again, I thank everyone for a wonderful 2012-13 school year.  Report cards were mailed on Friday, June 7.  If you did not receive a report card,  please contact the office.

The office will close for the summer on June 20, 2013.  If you have an emergency, please contact the Twin Falls School District office at 208.733.6900.  The office will open for the 2013-14 school year on August 19, 2013.  Hours will be 8:00 to 4:00.

If you need to register a student at Perrine you will need to bring in the following:  1) Certified birth certificate,  2) updated immunization records,  3) proof of residency-- a utility bill, rental agreement or purchasing agreement.  The paperwork required to be filled out is on line at the Perrine website.

Open house is tentatively scheduled for August 29th.  This is a time for you to bring your child to the school, meet the teacher, and drop off school supplies.  A list of supplies can be found on our website.

Enjoy the summer.

School dismissal for the summer begins at 1:00 on Wednesday June 5th for students in grades first through fifth. The last day of school for kindergarten students is Tuesday June 4th.  Please look in the mail for your child's report card.  You should receive them by June 12th at the latest.  If you do not receive one, you can contact the school for a duplicate.
